WHICH WIGS WILL WORK BEST FOR ME?
Every wig is not for everyone. Selecting wigs that will work best for you takes a bit of knowledge, understanding, and decision making. This page will help you with this by providing information about; style (flattering styles for different face shapes), finding your correct cap size, choosing a good color match, and type (different types of caps and different types of hair).
FINDING YOUR RIGHT CAP SIZE
Most wigs only come in the average size which works for over 90% of clients. They take a few inches into consideration by adding adjustable straps that give or take about an 1/2 inch for a more secure fit. However, there are some designers that provide different petite and large cap size options as well. It is not uncommon for cancer treatment patients and other hair loss clients to need a petite size cap size. In addition some clients have smaller than average or larger than average head sizes.
Please use the measuring tape and follow the instructions below to determine your correct cap size. Be certain to measure the circumference of your head from the front hairline, behind the ear, to the nape of the neck, to the other ear and then back to the front hairline. After jotting down the results consult the wig cap size chart to find your best fit.
Please understand that sizes may slightly vary depending on brand and every wig does not come in different cap sizes. When ordering you will notice cap size options for the specific wigs that offer different cap size options.
DIFFERENT CAP CONSTRUCTIONS
The cap of the wig is basically the core (base). It is used to attach the hair which makes it a wig. The cap is made of different materials which can determine the wigs durability, weight, and the way the hair flows. There are four general cap constructions that feature various benefits. Please understand that depending on the brand, cap constructions can be trademarked and may offer additional features or combinations of the following cap descriptions. Check out the chart below to learn more about cap construction descriptions. These are just the basic features for each cap type.
